Introducing New Artists
Born in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture in 1959.
Selected for "Creative Exhibition" while attending Musashino Art University, Department of Japanese Painting.
In 1986, he joined Toho Stage Co., Ltd. and drew artworks on the stage background and props at the Tokyo Takarazuka Theater.
After, he became independent as a historical illustrator.
Since 2005, the PHP Institute has published a series of maze art books.
Setsu Maeno was born in 1961 in Nagoya Prefecture. She is famous for “Kinusai-ga”, which is a artwork that uses the technique of the Kimekomi doll, using antique kimono silk instead of paint. This is a unique artwork created and named by Setsu Maeno, which brings back a new artwork style of the colors, patterns, and textures.

Japanese Press Flower Art
Masae Kuwano
Masae Kuwano was born in 1942. Growing up in a nature, she came across a Sugino-type pressed flower in 1990. Her artworks were exhibited at local post offices, hospitals, banks, public halls, lobby of city hall, etc. to promote the spread of “Pressed Flowers”. She became the director and president of “Hitano no Hana no Kai”.
Chigiri-e artist
Kiyoshi Yamashita
Kiyoshi Yamashita was born in 1922. Yamashita is famous for the chigiri-e method of sticking torn pieces of colored paper together to depict the scenery he saw on his travels. His most famous works such as "Nagaoka no Hanabi" and "Sakurajima" were made in this way.
He is widely known as “Japanese Van Gogh” or the “Naked General”. His work is still highly regarded throughout Japan, and is the subject of frequent exhibitions.
Chigiri-e Art
Chigiri-e is a Japanese art form in which the primary technique uses colored paper that is torn to create images, and may resemble a water color painting. The technique dates from the Heian period of Japanese history when it was often used in combination with calligraphy. Handmade paper is essential for the creation of chigiri-e images.

Yuji Mitani
Yuji Mitani was born in 1946 in Mie Prefecture. The theme of his artwork is the collaboration of sun, moon, and four seasons of nature expressing the light of hope. His artworks took place in Europe, Middle East and Asia.
"I have been painting the sun for 30years, and my half life as a painter has passed.
The sun seems to different between Japan and other country. The sun rises sometimes gently and sometimes powerful like flare.
All things in the earth is given the life by the sun, and we are moved to the beautiful scenery by the morning and setting sun.

Masato Yanagisawa
Masato Yanagisawa was born in 1955 in Nagano Prefecture. His artwork is done with japanese painting expression with delicate brush strokes and unique bold composition about the magnificent story of eternal time and space.

Nihonnga is Japanese paintings from about 1900s onwards that have been made in accordance with traditional Japanese artistic conventions, techniques and materials.

Shinji Okada
Shinji Okada was born in 1962 in Aichi prefecture. His artworks are mainly European landscapes delicately drawn with full transparency of the Japanese painting style.

Nihonnga is Japanese paintings from about 1900 onwards that have been made in accordance with traditional Japanese artistic conventions, techniques and materials.

Hiroki Takahashi
Hiroki Takahashi was born in Nagano prefecture in 1971. His works indicate a highly formal aesthetic while establishing a distinctive sense of light, angles, and reflections. He depicts the flowers and creatures of the four seasons, and the magnificent natural beauty of Mt. Fuji and the mountains that he encountered during his journey.
He completed his master’s degree at the graduate school of Tokyo University of the Arts.
Contemporary
Sei Arimori
Born in Saga prefecture in 1951.
Studied under Yasuo Tanaka and completed the 1981 Graduate School of Fine Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts.
He has a strong passion for art history and develops his own pictorial expression while being interested in various art movements.
Arimori's expression is always abstract, and he uses the technique of egg tempera combined with silver leaf and gold leaf.
Currently based in Belgium and Japan, he continues his creative activities, including well-known galleries such as Kaneko Art, Walter Wickiser Gallery and Whitestoneb, museums such as the Chiba Prefectural Museum of Art, Anna3 in Antwerp and Katzen Art Center in Washington DC. Works will be exhibited in all countries of the world, including the Art Center in Washington.
